St Michael's Collegiate Early Learning Centre (ELC) provides a warm and welcoming start to your child's learning journey. From the moment your walk through our doors you will be surrounded by happy faces and inquisitive minds. Located on the Junior School Campus in South Hobart, the ELC views learning as an exciting, creative and inquiry driven process. Our centre is staffed by an exceptional team of early learning specialists who each value learning as an exciting, creative and inquiry driven process.

Catering for 3 and 4 year old boys and girls, the centre enjoys a warm village atmosphere and is staffed by an exceptional team of early learning specialists. We value and place importance on each child’s ideas, needs and thoughts in order to enhance a sense of belonging and to create a safe environment in which the children can play and learn.

A recent assessment of Collegiate’s Early Learning Centre and Outside School Hours Care programs by the Education and Care Unit of the Tasmanian Department of Education found that our programs exceed the national Quality Standards across all seven assessment areas. The curriculum is based around the Early Years Learning Framework for Australia and, in conjunction with our Reggio Emilia inspired approach, is designed to enrich learning in these formative years and immerses the children in activity-based learning and stimuli that feeds a child’s thirst for knowledge. The ELC program also offers Music, Library and Physical Education, which are all taught by specialist teachers in dedicated learning spaces. Ballet is also available as an optional extra.

At Early Learning we recognise the value and importance of nature play and physical exercise. Our ELC and Junior School is complete with access to a Kitchen Garden and flower patches which are grown and maintained by the children. The children also participate in unique nature walks along the Hobart Rivulet where they have the opportunity to engage in imaginative nature play.

Our ELC is an integral part of our Collegiate community, and the start of a rich and caring journey.

The ELC blog is always fun and engaging because it's filled with love and passion for early childhood education."
