2021 Hobart Eisteddfods

Over the school holidays, many of our students were busy preparing and participating in the Hobart Eisteddfods. There were some outstanding results by many students who continue to put in considerable hours each week, practising and developing their musical skills and ability. I would like to congratulate and publicly recognise some of these wonderful achievements.

Gracie Middleton (Year 11) came first, performing on the violin in the 15 and 16 Years String Performance/Wind or Brass Performance (Solo) section, first in the 15 and 16 Years Song from a Musical (Solo) section, and then went on to be awarded the Celeste Thomsen (Quinn) Trophy and Memorial Award for the most outstanding string performer aged 16 years and under.

Lillian Tso (Year 6) came first in the 12 Years and Under Pianoforte Recital (Solo) section. Lillian then went on to be awarded the Lady Cross Trophy (Junior) and Diviš Family Award for the most outstanding performer aged 14 years and under.

Samantha Collins (Year 11) came first in the 16 Years and Under Instrumental Recital (Solo) section, performing on the French horn.

Emma Medwin (Year 7) came first, and Harriet Gould (Year 8) came second in the 13 and 14 Years Vocal Performance (Solo) section.

Chloe Zhao (Year 2) came first in the AMEB Grade 3 and Grade 4 Pianoforte Performance (Solo) sections.

Denae Vanderplas (Year 11) came second in the AMEB Grade 8 Instrumental Performance (Solo) section, performing on the violin.

Hwee-Lin Yee (Year 7) came first in the 13 and 14 Years Song from a Musical (Solo) section, and second in the 13 and 14 Years String Performance/Wind or Brass Performance (Solo) section, performing on the cello.

Lexie Lethborg (Year 10) came first in the 16 Years and Under Vocal Performance OR Song from a Musical (Duet or Trio).

Denae Vanderplas (Year 11) came second in the AMEB Grade 8 Instrumental Performance (Solo) section, performing on the violin.

Zara Tsiakis (Year 7) came second in the 13 and 14 Years Song from a Musical (Solo) section.

Highly Commendable achievements were also awarded to Genesse Vanderplas (Year 3), Dorothy Yang (Year 1), Angela Yang (Kinder), Imogen Marr (Year 4), Isabella Liu (Year 7),  Su-Lin Yee (Year 4), Gracie Middleton (Year 11), Chloe Sloan (Year 11), Rose Curry (Year 11) Emma Medwin (Year 7), Harriet Gould (Year 8) and Lexie Lethborg (Year 10).

Unfortunately, due to the recent snap lockdown, our choirs were unable to compete in the Eisteddfods this year. I once again congratulate everyone for their dedication to participate in the Hobart Eisteddfods.
