Our Marine courses have been a great example of Experiential Learning. Year 9 and 10 students have undertaken a diverse range of studies both onsite and in the field. Field trips have included a Science-based Marine Camp on the Tasman Peninsula, a series of visits to Bruny Island for indigenous perspectives on marine environments and visiting various sites on the Derwent. Year 8 students have recently had theory and practical sessions to gain a boat license. Guest speakers have included experts in fisheries, ecologists, and biologists. We are fortunate to have Dr Michaela Guest design and lead our Marine courses, Dr Guest’s PhD is in Marine Ecology.
