News From the IFutures Hub

The new IFutures Hub is providing opportunities for St Michael’s Collegiate students to access a variety of courses that are not traditionally offered through the TASC curriculum.

This week we want to share with you the first St Michael’s Collegiate School-Based Apprentice, Imogen Waterhouse. Imogen has signed up to undertake a Hairdressing Apprenticeship which will enable her to work towards her future goal of being able to work in the performing arts industry. Imogen will complete her apprenticeship over four years but has started on the journey through the school-based option this year, to enable her to complete her TCE and also have her apprenticeship available to her until she finishes school.

School-based opportunities like these are exciting because it allows the students to work and gain skills in an area of interest, whilst also completing their TCE and enjoying the Year 12 journey. Imogen completes 15 hours of work a week, and will also attend TasTAFE for a full day to complete her official training. Her official sign-up happened last Friday with MEGT Australia and Jakadjari Hair, and with her parents present. We look forward to sharing more on Imogen’s journey as the year unfolds.
