I have been teaching and learning at Collegiate for almost 10 years now and, quite honestly, that time seems to have flown by! I have been fortunate to have taught in the Expressive Arts faculty with the Prep students all the way through to Year 10 and have had many years getting to know our wonderful students. I have also had enriching experiences as a Mentor and am currently the Year Level Coordinator for Year 7, which is a role I very much enjoy. I am grateful for the many opportunities afforded to me at Collegiate and the inspiring and dedicated colleagues I work alongside.
After a customary year spent after Year 12 in Melbourne, I returned to beautiful Tasmania and completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts, specialising in drawing and theory. In 2012, I completed post-graduate study in Master of Teaching (Secondary), earning a place on the Dean’s Honour Roll. Other vocations I have explored include hospitality management, my own catering business, personal assistant and accounts management for a local gallery, and most importantly as a Mama of 3 incredible children.
I am passionate about the creative arts and a firm believer that the expressive subjects lie in the heart of a well-rounded education. Teaching and learning within a creative space offers many wonderful opportunities to welcome critical thinking, explore worldview, and invite challenges through creative encounters. Teaching within this area also allows me to indulge myself in being a life-long learner through collaboration, conversation, and a role in a rich educational community. My favourite international artist is Frida Kahlo, and my favourite Australian artist is Minnie Pwerle. I love to travel and have loved discovering exciting places such as Mexico, Peru, Bolivia, and Chile! Fortunately, hablo un poco de espanol!
