Enrichment, Differentiation and Gifted Education (EDGE)
At St Michael’s Collegiate School we acknowledge that there are a diverse range of learning rates and learning styles. The EDGE program was developed from this principle. It assists students to reach their full potential, be they in need of learning support, course extension, or are requiring specialised learning programs.
The EDGE Program identifies students in need and provides specialised tuition, especially in basic literacy or numeracy skills. EDGE also identifies highly able students and provides them with differentiation, extension and enrichment.
Learning support has a focus on improving basic skills that complement the regular classroom curriculum, while highly able students are extended through differentiated learning activities, extension activities and enrichment opportunities, specialised groups focusing on individual needs and the mentoring and acceleration of individual students, including an early entry policy.
The EDGE program supports the School’s aim of providing for the full range of a student’s needs to benefit them, the broader school community and their opportunities for the future.
