St Michael's Collegiate School is committed to providing outstanding educational opportunities for girls and young women. We also recognise the special need to nurture and encourage individual interests and talents. As part of this commitment, the School offers a range of scholarships to remarkable girls across differing year levels.

Scholarships for entry in 2019

St Michael’s Collegiate invites applications for a range scholarships for entry to the School in 2019. Please find scholarship requirements summarised in the table below, followed by individual descriptions of each scholarship and the relevant application forms.

Students are welcome to apply for more than one scholarship; however, only one scholarship may be held at any one time.

Please note the following changes to scholarship opportunities for 2019:

  • The introduction of the Collegiate Year 9 ASPIRE Scholarship.
  • Music Scholarship applicants do not need to sit the academic test via Edutest as in previous years.
  • School of Performing Arts Scholarships are open to existing Collegiate students for entry into Year 7 2019, and for students new to Collegiate to commence in Years 7 to 12 in 2019.
  • All Scholarships, with the exception of the Collegiate Boarding Scholarship which is generously supported by DJ Mazda, may range in offer from 20 to 50% of the value of academic tuition fees.

Academic Scholarships

Collegiate invites applications for Academic Scholarships for entry into Years 5, 7, 9 and 11. These scholarships are open to both current Collegiate students and students who wish to commence at Collegiate in 2019, and are equivalent to between 20 and 50% of the value of academic tuition fees.

Applicants for Academic Scholarships must register online via Edutest

The Academic testing date is Saturday 24 March 2018.

Music Scholarships

Collegiate invites applications for Music Scholarships for entry into Years 7, 9 and 11. These scholarships are open to both current Collegiate students and students who wish to commence at Collegiate in 2019, and are equivalent to between 20 and 50% of the value of academic tuition fees.

Applicants should complete both the 'Scholarship Application' form and the 'Music Scholarships' form below.

Auditions will be held on Friday 23 March 2018. Applicants will be advised of audition requirements and times in due course.

The School of Performing Arts (SPA) Scholarships

St Michael’s Collegiate is renowned for its dedication to the Performing Arts. School of Performing Arts (SPA) Scholarships offer talented students in dance, drama, voice and instrument a high calibre performing arts experience which facilitates their development as communicative artists.

SPA Scholarships provide the opportunity for students new to Collegiate to commence in Years 7 to 10 in 2019, and for existing Collegiate students to enter the SPA program in Year 7 2019.

SPA Scholars are expected to remain in the SPA program at least until the completion of Year 10 and thereafter must contribute to the Performing Arts by attending and participating in performances as required. This includes performing in assemblies, and at key school and public events.

If students wish to continue holding their SPA Scholarship in Years 11 and 12, then they must either be enrolled in SPA in both years, or enrol in one or more of the following pre-tertiary performance courses each year: Drama, Theatre Performance, Dance & Choreography, Music or the UTAS College Music Program. Students will also be expected to participate in a Music ensemble, or be involved in the Senior Musical Production.

These scholarships are equivalent to between 20 to 50% of the value of academic tuition fees.

Applicants should complete both the 'Scholarship Application' form and the 'School of Performing Arts' form below.

Audition Requirements

SPA Foundation Skills (Year 7 program)

Students should prepare either a song (accompanist provided) or a monologue of their own choice or from those provided. These should be performed from memory.

All students will be required to participate in a short group dance audition (please wear suitable clothes).

SPA Advanced Skills (Years 8 to 12 program)

Vocal
Students should prepare 2 contrasting songs of any genre, preferably performed from memory. There will also be some aural and sight-reading tests. Students will need to organise their own accompanist.

Instrumental
Students should prepare 2 contrasting pieces in any style. There will also be aural and some sight-reading. Students will need to organise their own accompanist if required.

Drama
Students should select and prepare a monologue of their own choice or from those provided by the School (available here early in 2018). The monologue should be performed from memory.

Dance
Students will take part in a group audition run like a dance class. Students will warm-up, demonstrate corner work and other exercises, and learn a short choreographed routine. Students should bring appropriate clothes to dance in.

The Collegiate Boarding Scholarship

Collegiate invites applications from remarkable girls from across Tasmania who will make a significant contribution to the School and the Boarding House community. Applicants should reside outside the Greater Hobart area and be willing to embrace the full range of opportunities available at Collegiate. This scholarship provides support to a student who would benefit due to their geographical location and financial position. The successful applicant may commence at the School in Years 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 or 12 in 2019. The Collegiate Boarding Scholarship is equivalent to the value of 50% of boarding fees and 50% of the value of academic tuition fees.

The Collegiate Boarding Scholarship is made possible with the generous support of DJ Mazda.

The Collegiate 'Set for life' Scholarships

Collegiate 'Set for Life' Scholarships provide the opportunity for remarkable students to come to the School who may not otherwise be able to attend without financial assistance. Collegiate 'Set for Life' Scholarships are open to new students who wish to commence at the School in Years 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 or 12 in 2019. These scholarships are equivalent of between 20 to 50% of the value of academic tuition fees.

Applicants should complete both the 'Scholarship Application' form and 'The Collegiate Set for Life Scholarship' form below.

The Collegiate Anglican Scholarship

St Michael's Collegiate invites applications from remarkable young women from the Anglican community who will make a significant contribution to the School. These scholarships offer support to girls who may not be able to attend without financial assistance. Applicants must demonstrate a Christian faith and be committed to embracing the full range of opportunities available at Collegiate. These scholarships are between 20 to 50% of the value of academic tuition fees and are open to new students who wish to enter the School Years 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 or 12 in 2019.

Applicants should complete both the 'Scholarship Application' form and 'The Collegiate Anglican Scholarship' form below.

The Community of the Sisters of the Church Scholarship

The Community of the Sisters of the Church Scholarship is open to daughters, granddaughters, nieces and other close relatives of Collegiate Old Girls. The Scholarship provides the opportunity for students to continue their family connection with Collegiate and support those who may not be able to attend without financial assistance. This Scholarship is open to new students who wish to commence at the School in Years 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 or 12 in 2019. These scholarships are equivalent of between 20 to 50% of the value of academic tuition fees.

Applicants should complete both the 'Scholarship Application' form and the 'The Community of the Sisters of the Church Scholarship' form below.

The Collegiate Year 9 ASPIRE Scholarship

The Collegiate Year 9 ASPIRE Scholarship provides the opportunity for girls to commence at Collegiate and benefit from the School’s signature Year 9 ASPIRE program. It offers support to those who may not otherwise be able to attend the School without financial assistance. This program features 4 week long experiences beyond the classroom and includes expeditions, challenges and service learning experiences which encourage girls to stretch outside of their comfort zones.

This Scholarship is open to new students who wish to commence at the School in Year 9 in 2019. This scholarship is equivalent of between 20 to 50% of the value of academic tuition fees.

The Eleanor Mary Ramsay Scholarship

Professor Eleanor Ramsay was a champion of education. She will be remembered for her lifetime contribution as a gifted teacher, far-sighted colleague, skilled researcher and wise community leader.

The Eleanor Mary Ramsay Scholarship will create life-changing opportunities for young women in their final years of secondary schooling, providing financial support for girls, wherever they may be studying now, to complete Years 11 and 12 at Collegiate. In Eleanor’s memory, girls will be empowered by opportunity, nurtured with academic guidance and supported by lifelong networks.

The Eleanor Mary Ramsay Scholarship will be launched in 2018. Donations to the scholarship fund are currently being accepted, and may be provided via the donation form below or by contacting the Head of Philanthropy, Ms Lisa Harris, on (03) 6211 4973 or lisa.harris@collegiate.tas.edu.au
