St Michael's Collegiate School is committed to providing outstanding educational opportunities for girls and young women. We also recognise the special need to nurture and encourage individual interests and talents. As part of this commitment, the School offers a range of scholarships to remarkable girls across differing year levels.

The Collegiate 'Imagine' Scholarship

The Collegiate ‘Imagine’ Scholarship provides a life-changing opportunity for girls entering Year 11 in 2018. This scholarship encourages girls to follow their dreams, embrace opportunity and complete their final two years of secondary schooling in an environment that empowers young women.

Applications are now invited from young women who demonstrate a love of community and a passion for what their future may hold.

The Collegiate ‘Imagine’ Scholarship is open to new students who are Australian citizens or permanent school aged female residents in Australia. This scholarship is aimed at new students who wish to commence at the School in Year 11 in 2018; however, students entering Year 12 may also be considered. This scholarship is equivalent of up to 50% of the value of tuition fees and is tenable until the end of Year 12.

The Collegiate Boarding Scholarship

Collegiate invites applications from remarkable girls from across Tasmania who will make a significant contribution to the School and the Boarding House community. Applicants should reside outside the Greater Hobart area and be willing to embrace the full range of opportunities available at Collegiate. This scholarship provides support to a student who would benefit due to their geographical location and financial position. The successful applicant may commence at the School in Years 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 or 12 in the following year. The Collegiate Boarding Scholarship is equivalent to the value of 50% of boarding fees and 50% of the value of tuition fees.

Applications for entry in 2018 have now closed. Applications for entry in 2019 will be advertised via the School website and Facebook page towards the end of this year and are expected to close late July 2018.

The Collegiate Boarding Scholarship is made possible with the generous support of DJ Mazda.

 

School of Performing Arts (SPA) Scholarships

St Michael’s Collegiate is renowned for its dedication to the Performing Arts. School of Performing Arts (SPA) Scholarships offer talented students in dance, drama, voice and instrument a high calibre performing arts experience which facilitates their development as communicative artists.

SPA Scholarships provides the opportunity for students new to Collegiate to commence in Years 7 to 12 in the following year. SPA Scholars are expected to remain in the SPA program at least until the completion of Year 10 and must contribute to the Performing Arts by attending and participating in performances. This includes performing in assemblies, at school events and key public performances.

If students wish to continue holding their SPA Scholarship in Years 11 and 12, then they must either be enrolled in SPA in both years, or enrol in one or more of the following pre-tertiary performance courses each year: Drama, Theatre Performance, Dance & Choreography, Music or the UTAS College Music Program. Students will also be expected to participate in a Music ensemble, or be involved in the Senior Musical Production.

These scholarships are equivalent to 25% of the value of tuition fees.

SPA auditions for entry in 2018 have been scheduled for Friday 4 August.

 

Audition Requirements

SPA Foundation Skills (Year 7 program)

Auditions will be held on Saturday 5 August between 10:00am and 11:00am.

Students should prepare either a song (accompanist provided) or a monologue of their own choice or from those provided below. These should be performed from memory.

All students will be required to participate in a short group dance audition (wear suitable clothes).

SPA Advanced Skills (Years 8 to 12 program)

Auditions will be held on Friday 4 August. Students will be advised of their allotted audition time.

VOCAL
Students should prepare 2 contrasting songs of any genre, preferably performed from memory. There will also be some aural and sight-reading tests. Students will need to organise their own accompanist.

INSTRUMENTAL
Students should prepare 2 contrasting pieces in any style. There will also be aural and some sight-reading. Students will need to organise their own accompanist if required.

DRAMA
Students should select and prepare a monologue of their own choice or from those provided below. The monologue should be performed from memory.

DANCE
Students will take part in a group audition run like a dance class. Students will warm-up, demonstrate corner work and other exercises, and learn a short choreographed routine. Students should bring appropriate clothes to dance in.

 

Collegiate 'Set for Life' Scholarships

Collegiate 'Set for Life' Scholarships provide the opportunity for remarkable students to come to the School who may not otherwise be able to attend without financial assistance. Collegiate 'Set for Life' Scholarships are open to new students who wish to commence at the school in Years 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 or 12 in the following year. These scholarships are equivalent of up to 50% of the value of tuition fees.

The ‘Set for Life’ Scholarships include the Hazell Ralph Scholarship for students entering Years 7 or 8 in the following year.

The Collegiate Anglican Scholarship

St Michael's Collegiate invites applications from remarkable young women from the Anglican community who will make a significant contribution to the School. These scholarships offer support to  girls who may not be able to attend without financial assistance. Applicants must demonstrate a Christian faith and be committed to embracing the full range of opportunities available at Collegiate. These scholarships are up to 50% in value and are open to new students who wish to enter Years 7 to 12 the following year.

Applications for entry in 2018 have now closed. Applications for entry in 2019 will be advertised via the School website and Facebook page towards the end of this year and are expected to close early June 2018.

 

The Community of the Sisters of the Church Scholarship

The Community of the Sisters of the Church Scholarship is open to daughters, granddaughters and nieces of Collegiate Old Girls. The Scholarship provides the opportunity for students to continue their family connection with Collegiate and support those who may not be able to attend without financial assistance. This Scholarship is open to new students who wish to commence at the school in Years 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 or 12 the following year. These scholarships are equivalent of up to 50% of the value of tuition fees.

Applications for entry in 2018 have now closed. Applications for entry in 2019 will be advertised via the School website and Facebook page towards the end of this year and are expected to close early June 2018.

 

Academic Scholarships

Collegiate generally invites applications for Academic Scholarships for entry into Years 5, 7, 9 and 11. These scholarships are open to both current Collegiate students and students who wish to commence at Collegiate the following year, and are equivalent to 25% of the value of tuition fees.

Music Scholarships

Collegiate generally invites applications for Music Scholarships for entry into Years 7, 9 and 11. These scholarships are open to both current Collegiate students and students who wish to commence at Collegiate the following year, and are equivalent to 25% of the value of tuition fees.
